Its evergreen stems give this Mediterranean native a nice winter presence while the profuse bright yellow flowers really wake up the xeriscape in late spring. Easily grown in a wide range of soils, Cytisus purgans is an undemanding shrub with good resistance to browsing animals. Underplant with blue-flowered “Nepeta x faassenii “Select Blue””:/catalog/product/71289/. Not recommended for planting in coastal CA, or Western OR and WA as it may be invasive.
