Description:

No planting of native grasses is complete without wildflowers to fill in the picture. This specially formulated blend of 16 xeric species is the perfect companion to the Western Trails Native Grass Seed Mix and is adapted to the same range and climatic conditions: rainfall of 10-25” a year and elevations of 3,000 to 7,500 ft. When planting with the wildflower seed mix, blend 1 oz. of flower seed per 1 lb. of grass seed. By itself, use at the rate of 1 lb per 1000 sq. ft. or 20 lbs. per acre.

Wildflowers are best sown in the fall or early spring, as many species require 4-8 weeks of freezing or near freezing nights before germinating. To sow later in spring or summer, after cold temperatures have passed, cold-stratify wildflower seeds by mixing them with slightly damp sand and refrigerating (not freezing) for 8 weeks prior to seeding.
